This five day workshop will take place at Hudson River Valley Art Workshops in Greenville New York. Date-July 9-13, 2018.
A five day workshop to immerse yourself in your art— this is about “the art of art” and uniquely engaging. Class description:
CREATE AUTHENTIC ART—DEVELOP YOUR ARTISTIC STORY
The foundation of this class is to assist artists in finding their voice with their art. Participants will be introduced to ideas about developing authentic artwork and move forward to create work uniquely their own, nothing derivative. All media types are welcome (within the facility parameters) and any skill level. This is about your art -—textiles, fiber, paint, watercolor, draw, sketchbook development, collage, mixed media or whatever works for you. The process is the same as you work to bring yourself to your work. Gather your supplies and discover what happens.
Participation in sections of the workshop is by choice. That means if we discuss any artist material topics — artist statements, biographies, resumes, applying for grants, finding art opportunities, writing content or other thoughts on how to build an art presence—you choose to participate or make another choice for the best use of your creative time.
Anyone interested in the workshop will receive a private consultation before traveling to plan their agenda, consider what is ahead for them and decide what supplies to have available. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the class.
Each artists job in the five days is to work and stretch. The more you work the better you get. This will be your time to add some tools to your toolbox, listen to your inner voice and express that voice through your art.
My job is to encourage and inspire you to your voice with ideas and practice. You will be able to set up an environment where you can get lost in your work. At Hudson River Valley Art Workshops you will be in a retreat type surrounding. Take advantage of this and create as much as you want. The classroom is open 24 hours.
This is not about setting goals, it is not about making yourself do something, this is not about struggle. This is about your voice with your medium and learning your flow. Don’t worry about ideas coming because they are there and they will.
There are no two people exactly alike and since you aren’t like anyone else your work should be your own and not derivative. Be true to yourself and your work. Develop a studio practice you can tweak as you go and find what you want from your art.
This is about you – the artist – your work- your way-uniquely you.
